Good morning! Welcome to Fundraising Frank where we talk about all things nonprofit and fundraising related. I’ve been to several events in the past week and have seen some amazing meeting and surpassing their goals!

Global Reach
Saving the Dogs of South Korea!
South Korean lawmakers officially outlawed the breeding, slaughter and sale of dogs for human consumption.

If you’re anything like me, you just hugged your little fluffy for dear life even at the thought.
Details Please
Consuming dogs in Korea is centuries-old practice ( though it is unpopular and rare today). It has remained due to the decades after the Korean War when the country was destitute and meat was scarce.
Chris DeRose, LCA president and founder and Jiyen Lee, ALW founder, were in front of the South Korea National Assembly at the press conference celebrating the historic vote. MP Han, a member of the National Assembly, joined the press conference.
“This historic ban on dog meat in South Korea has been decades in the making,” said Jiyen Lee, Founder of ALW. “I am thankful to all the legislators who voted to put an end to this cruel and antiquated industry. I hope other nations will follow this example and we can make it so that no nation on Earth tolerates the killing and eating of dogs.”
Go Global
Nonprofits are a team sport. It takes many to make the desired impact. LCA found counterparts across the globe to share resources, communications, and ideas. There is no reason that any other nonprofit can’t do the same.
This is perhaps a wacky idea, but if you’re a Catholic School in Cleveland looking to raise money to fix a parking lot, there’s no reason you can’t reach out and team up with an organization or school in Dublin Ireland that also needs a parking lot fixed. The two organization could throw an event to see “who paved it better.” Getting fund is often about telling an interesting or compelling story to aid in raising awareness and making things happen.
