Tis the Fundraising Season!
Let's prepare

Good Morning. It’s fundraising season so you know what that means: Men, break out the plaid suits and shine those antique loafers. Ladies, gala dresses come out of the closet and prep that picture pose. Shoulders back. Neck slightly out.
Today’s Topics:

The Silent Killer
Auction Items By The Numbers

Look at that staging!
Number of Items?
Here’s the formula. #GUESTS divided by 3. Then divide by 3 again. = #ITEMS
Example: 300 guests. /3 = 100. /3 again = 33 items.
That is the sweet spot! On average, one third of your guests will participate in the silent. You want to drive competition to maximize revenue. Too many items = bargain basement prices and then your guest go deal shopping.
Also, if possible, display the items so the guests can touch them. There’s a psychological element at play here. Touching implies ownership. If you’ve got two guests who feel like they own an item, you’ve started a BIDDING WAR!
Heads or Tails
Everyone Loves Games!

Flip It
A mid-event game is a great way to engage with your guests and it’s also a way to involve those that can’t give great sums.
The setup: $20 to play (or a price that works for your event). Winner gets a PRIZE.
Participants can purchase multiple. Offer deals for purchasing more than 1
Use wristbands, ring pops, a flashing LED, anything to indicate a purchase.
The Game:
The host/auctioneer/MC asks the players to put their hands on either their HEAD or the TAIL.
Flip the coin. If the coin comes up HEADS, those with their hands on HEADS, stay. Those that chose TAILS either are out or if purchased multiple they must give up one wristband/ring/etc.
The last remaining player, gets the PRIZE!
This game is always fun and breaks up the evening while engaging with guests.
